Wrestling's Unofficial World Championship

A title used today in pro wrestling is "Best In The World." Wrestlers such as CM Punk and Davey Richards are known to use the phrase. But who really is The Best In The World? Well that's what Shaun Webb and members of Wrestling Unleashed wanted to know. So in April 2007 a "championship" was created to figure out just who was the top dog in WWE. Names from Mr. Kennedy to Bret Hart have won the title. I'm sure the creator will disagree with my moving of the title from WWE to ROH. Well I want to let Webb know that if he requested it I would make a second list where his original rules were kept in play and the title is kept in WWE. So below you can see the evolution of The Unofficial World Championship!

This is what Shaun Webb had last stated about the title he created back in April 2007.
An old saying in the wrestling industry is "To be the man, you've got to  beat the man". But now we have three different World Champions in WWE,  there isnt 'a' man. This is where this comes in.

"Following  his Money-in-the Bank victory at Wrestlemania 23, Mr Kennedy is crowned  the unofficial world champion by me (so if you got a problem, then  tough ).

From  Wrestlemania, every match Mr Kennedy competes in will be a Championship  Match, and his reign will continue until he loses to somebody. Then  that somebody will be crowned the Unofficial World Champion! The title  will change hands on any kind of victory, be it pinfall, submission,  count-out, or disqualification. It will also count for eliminations, so  if you eliminate the champion in the Royal Rumble match for instance,  you become the champ. In tag team matches, the belt will only change  hands IF the champion is pinned, made to submit, counted out, or the one  directly responsible for the DQ. If their partner is pinned, the  champion retains.

In the event of a 'title vacated' situation.  The previous champion will have the oppurtunity to earn the title back  in their next match."

Since then there's been a few of us who had been keeping up with who was winning the belt. Since Bret Hart won the belt back in 2010 there been some dispute over who the rightful champion was. While there were people who thought Cena was the rightful champion there were others that included myself that pointed out the original champion won the title in a Money In The Bank match and there was one held that very night so the winner Jack Swagger was given the title.

Then you see the title was vacated again. The Great Khali showed up to The Rock's birthday party in a tooth fairy costume. Really I just thought this was a chance for me to take a different direction with the title and make a switch from WWE to ROH. I declared Michael Elgin the champion, who had won a multi man match at ROH Revolution : Canada. Then Homicide wins the belt and signs with a different promotion. Well it was very convenient that not long after WWE held it's Money In The Bank pay per view. Daniel Bryan, former ROH star, was crowned champion after his MITB victory.

Then once again, Bret Hart, a man who created a conundrum for this championship before, won it and I was forced to vacate it once again. Looking at Shaun Webb's rules Alberto Del Rio should have been given another shot at the title. But I decided it was time to mix things up and once again and bring the title back to ROH.

I know there will be those of you who followed this championship that won't agree with my handing of who's champion. For me Ring of Honor is where to head to for the best pro wrestling in The United States. Though I did drop the rule that it only be defended in ROH and can change at major indpendent events, so far changing hands once at a PWG show. I have been the man who's been keeping the records of who's champion. Going through the results of many shows when ketchup was needed. The point of this is to see who's The Best In The World, or in other words The Man. Don't be telling me you think it's The Great Khali. So in the words of Shaun Webb, if you got a problem, then tough.
